Rotary three-cone configuration
The original photographs show three rolling cones and different cutting profiles. A tricone bit uses a different cutting arrangement from a fixed-cutter PDC bit.
Identify the cutting structure
Use a model reference and clear cone photographs to specify the proposed tooth or insert configuration. Confirm the cutting-element specification and formation application for the selected model. The appearance of an insert does not establish its grade or an operating range.
Match the assembly
State the bit diameter, drill-string connection, circulation arrangement and available rig controls. Identify the bearing and seal configuration and any inspection or classification requirements on the selected specification. These internal features cannot be verified from a head photograph alone.
Compare a tricone and PDC option
Supply the same formation interval, target hole, equipment and run objectives for both proposals. Use the PDC versus tricone comparison to compare the systems and the water-well selection guide to place them within the drilling task. For procurement, list each configuration separately using the purchasing checklist.
Run evidence for repeat orders
Record the exact bit configuration, ground, drilled metres, drilling and handling time, observed wear and reason for removal. Those observations make a repeat-order comparison more useful than a general claim that either tool family always lasts longer.
